I shook my head when I first read it as well, but…. you have to remember that films like “District 9″ were made for $30M USD.

$20M USD for a “Spawn” movie isn’t really too much of a stretch. It isn’t like it’s going to be some giant action movie unless the bad guys are Chapel AND the Redeemer… or some crap.

I never saw the first one but I remember reading that it was colossally bad–how can a second film be any worse?

Crap, I just remembered it CAN be worse…. because McFarlane has creative control. -_-

Spawn was a horrible movie, even for ‘97. It was also a horrible on HBO as an animated series and lack of viewer interest cut the series short. Todd McFarlane milked the franchise for as much as possible and doesn’t realize that no one gives a damn about Spawn anymore. Personally, I never knew anyone that did.

He should stick to making toys. He excels at that. I wish I had the opportunity to collect all of his Hellraiser series figures.
