I can’t believe how much money this bad, bad movie made.
Just more proof that today’s audience are a suckers who complain about Hollywood churning out nothing but crap, then going to see it when that crap is finally released. I don’t know if it was the scores of women dragging their helpless and cowardly boyfriends to the movie, or if Aston Kutcher got all of his followers on Twitter to buy a ticket, but Valentine’s Day made huge numbers, opening at an estimated $52.4 million. If all it takes for a movie to open huge is to name the movie after the holiday and open it during that week, then they better change those future Halloween release dates. We reported last week that a sequel called “New Year’s Eve” might be on its way. With this opening, you can pretty much guarantee it. Good job, dummies. Percy Jackson did better than expected with a strong 2nd place finish with $31.1 million. That’s all I’ve got to say about that.
Poor, poor Wolfman! While the movie wasn’t the ferocious killer I’d hoped it would be, I still thought it would beat out those other two pieces of garbage. Sorry Universal. Your movie came in 3rd with $30.6 million.
Avatar is now sitting at $2,226,696,179. If these numbers continue, they may reset the universe. Just a warning.
Dear John stopped writing to everyone. It went from 1st to 5th with $15.3 million.
The rest of the movies …continue reading
