Betty Boop Snow White & Satanic Titanic

Brought to you by @TdotComics

Hello Internet,

I am Alice Quinn & I am thrilled to be with you today! I am a geeky chick from Toronto who loves comics, cartoons, video games and the internet. I will attempt to enlighten you on some strange comic stuff that you have never seen before or stuff that is just odd and amazing.

With that in mind I have for you a comic & a cartoon you might enjoy. First up we have the Fleischer Brothers’ Betty Boop in Snow White made in 1933 featuring Cab Calloway. Interesting fact when Koko the Klown starts dancing Max Fleischer is actually using a animation technique called rotoscoping (that the Fleischers invented!). They filmed Calloway dancing & projected it onto their drawing tables so they could trace his movements frame by frame to make the motion more realistic. This is still considered one of the greatest cartoons of all time, Enjoy!

I liked that enough to favorite it on YouTube (TheAliceQuinn).

Next up we have something that is a little more out there and strange: a strip called “Satanic Titanic.” My only upset is that this scan has cut a little off the right side. There is a whole culture of horror and gore comics that have been around forever even before our favorite superheroes hit the presses! Predominantly popular during the first & second world wars no one had to mention these comics were aimed at mature readers. This one in particular gives a humorous twist on a story we all know, I especially like the last panel, Enjoy!

That’s all for today folks,

Till next time

-Alice nniuQ

Yes, I didn't know the perticular author for this strip it was linked to me by @Laroquod who has now informed me that Garth Ennis made this strip which is awsome because his other stuff is generally fantastic.

I just don't like it when people get so squemish about comics & are all like "eww why are they eating each other isn't this supposed to be about superheroes?!" which is when I face-plam. This is why I thought I would provide the historical knowledge that comics were commonly gore & horror (untill the comics code authority came into play & wholesome goodness was on the rise)

There were a lot of popular horror comics in the 40s and 50s, especially from EC Comics. But this "Satanic" strip isn't one of them. This was first published in Vertigo Comics "Flinch" anthology in 1999.

That said, it was a great read!

That is the best comic strip I've ever seen in my life. Win.
